About
Yakub Damola is a Nigerian humanitarian researcher and open source advocate leading the Fedora-based Community Knowledge Preservation Initiative across rural Pan-African communities. His project digitises indigenous knowledge, oral histories, and local educational resources using Fedora Repository, ODK Collect, and KoboCollect — preserving community-owned knowledge on offline, solar-powered local servers. His research has been featured at the University of Vienna (Fedora Camp, 2025), accepted for presentation at the 2026 Virtual DLF Forum, and highlighted during International Open Access Week 2025. He champions digital sovereignty by ensuring communities own and govern their own knowledge infrastructure without dependence on foreign cloud systems.
